The BIG 40!

Well, I can't believe it.  I am 40 today!!!  My office staff had a party for me this afternoon and the first thing one of them said to me when I walked in the door was Welcome to Death!  If I wasn't having a hard enough time with this whole thing to begin with and then that statement?????

My conversation with my wife this morning was quite comical.  She asked me how I felt about being 40.  I told her that I was in denial and she laughed and said, "funny, I didn't know we were in Africa."  Ha, ha, ha!  I love her so much, but not after that comment.  Now I'm going to have to kick her to the curb.

Anyway, life goes on and despite the fact that my life is half over the best years lie ahead of me.  I mean who doesn't look forward to turning grey, body aches, falling asleep during the middle of the afternoon and drooling and forgetting that it's gross?

Hope you all have a great day, I'm going boating on the river!

Just to set the record straight, Rob.  First, I don't go to a tanning booth that was pure skin cancer causing sunshine from vacation.  And second, I was not trying to out GQ the radio guy (actually he's a tv guy), although I did feel like running home and changing my clothes to my WYI attire to look more the part!  They were playing all 80's music so I had a hard time concentrating on what I was doing.  I felt like I should be back in High School.  And the sunglasses???  Hey, I've got to have something to make a statement.  And yes, Shannon, I do wear them on the front of my head.....sometimes!

C ya! (not chow, just for Daniel)

Hey everyone,

Life has sure been busy!!!  Been doing a lot of media stuff the last couple of weeks and even got to host the Govenator here's a pic of the Gov. and me talking to a couple of boys who donated some school supplies.

Here I am with a local TV personality at a radio fundraiser for Hurricane Katrina.

Anyway, hope things are going well in your neck of the woods (tag line from Al Roker from the Today show).

Take care and I'll post more later.

Currently Watching
Guess Who
By Bernie Mac, Ashton Kutcher, Zoe Saldana

OK, OK I know it has been forever since I've written!!  It is not like anything hasn't happened, it's just finding the time to jot it all down.

Let's do a brief summary.

1. Went and spent a week at SAY camp.  Had a great time with the kids.  I taught beginning band and leather working.

2. Went on vacation for 2 weeks.  1 week in San Diego (actually Chula Vista) and 1 week in Lake Shasta.  Absolutely the best two weeks we've had in a while.  No emails, no cell phone, no nothing.  It was great!

3. Went to WYI and had a great time seeing everyone again.  Although I kept getting picked on by other DYS's and leaders because the special guest kept thinking I was one of the delegates.  First was the clothes, too stylish, not enough socks with sandals I guess along with Oakley Sunglasses. Then the hair, too stylish, too much product (so they say) and no grey.  Then was the tan (that I got from vacation only 6 days prior to WYI).

Evidently we as Officers must only shop in the old man section of J.C. Penney, wear socks with our flip-flops, have grey hair starting at 20 and be pasty white!  Oh and I forgot the hair product, it can only be VO5 for men!  I didn't sign up for that Army!!  Now I don't know if I will go so far as to say that I am a Metrosexual, but what other vices do we have.  OK besides the Starbucks Venti Pumpkin Spice Latte.  OK so maybe that does sound Metrosexual?  Who knows I had fun anyway.

ANYWAY Number 4 was Family camp and we had a blessed time with Pastor Ray Johnston from Bayside Community Church.  An excellent speaker with a passion for reigniting the passion in people.

Since then, life has been quite busy with everything going on down in the Gulf Region.  I really hope things start looking up for those poor people!  I've been getting a lot of information on what is taking place and it just seems as if it is going to be a long time before everything gets back to normal, if it ever does.

Anyway, thanks for listening and let's all do our part to help support those who've lost everything this past week.  If nothing else, tell someone close to you that you love them we could all stand to hear those words a little more often.

I love you all!

Chow!
