OK, OK I know it has been forever since I've written!! It is not like anything hasn't happened, it's just finding the time to jot it all down.
Let's do a brief summary.
1. Went and spent a week at SAY camp. Had a great time with the kids. I taught beginning band and leather working.
2. Went on vacation for 2 weeks. 1 week in San Diego (actually Chula Vista) and 1 week in Lake Shasta. Absolutely the best two weeks we've had in a while. No emails, no cell phone, no nothing. It was great!
3. Went to WYI and had a great time seeing everyone again. Although I kept getting picked on by other DYS's and leaders because the special guest kept thinking I was one of the delegates. First was the clothes, too stylish, not enough socks with sandals I guess along with Oakley Sunglasses. Then the hair, too stylish, too much product (so they say) and no grey. Then was the tan (that I got from vacation only 6 days prior to WYI).
Evidently we as Officers must only shop in the old man section of J.C. Penney, wear socks with our flip-flops, have grey hair starting at 20 and be pasty white! Oh and I forgot the hair product, it can only be VO5 for men! I didn't sign up for that Army!! Now I don't know if I will go so far as to say that I am a Metrosexual, but what other vices do we have. OK besides the Starbucks Venti Pumpkin Spice Latte. OK so maybe that does sound Metrosexual? Who knows I had fun anyway.
ANYWAY Number 4 was Family camp and we had a blessed time with Pastor Ray Johnston from Bayside Community Church. An excellent speaker with a passion for reigniting the passion in people.
Since then, life has been quite busy with everything going on down in the Gulf Region. I really hope things start looking up for those poor people! I've been getting a lot of information on what is taking place and it just seems as if it is going to be a long time before everything gets back to normal, if it ever does.
Anyway, thanks for listening and let's all do our part to help support those who've lost everything this past week. If nothing else, tell someone close to you that you love them we could all stand to hear those words a little more often.
I love you all!
